| Proud Breeders of Quality Maltese |
 |
We have made a dedicated commitment to a quality breeding program. We treat all of our puppies with the same love and care as we would a puppy that we may want to keep with our family. We want our puppies to go to loving, pet quality homes.
We want your puppy to be a source of great love and pride of ownership. That's why every puppy is treated with special loving care from birth. Below is some information about our litters as well as what you will receive when you purchase a puppy from us. We do appreciate your interest in our "babies."
Dewclaws Removed. At three days old, the puppy’s dewclaws are removed. This is a small vestigial claw higher up on the paw. We feel it is very important to have this professional procedure done, because leaving them can cause an important health issue later on in life. It is easy for a dog to tear or injure the dewclaw as he gets older. Additionally, the dewclaw does not serve any real purpose. Therefore, we have this professional procedure done on all of our puppies.
Vaccinations. The health of our puppies comes first and foremost. Proper vaccination is very crucial for a young puppy. Just like a newborn baby they are very susceptible to infection. We vaccinate all our puppies to insure their health and well being. Your puppy will come with a vaccination schedule providing you with the vaccines your puppy has received up to the date of purchase and when its’ next vaccination requirements are due to complete the full series of puppy vaccinations. It is very important to your puppy’s health to see your licensed veterinarian regarding the vaccines needed to be fully vaccinated against susceptible infections and diseases. Once these are completed you will need to insure your maltese has an annual vaccination as well. We reccommend you do not take your puppy around puppy parks and other places where there is high dog traffic until your puppy has received the full series of puppy vaccinations.
Worming. Most puppies do get worms. Because of this health concern we deworm our puppies to make sure they can grow and develop into healthy Maltese. We deworm our puppies on a schedule beginning at two weeks of age and every two weeks thereafter until they are 8 to 10 weeks old. Your puppy will come with a deworming schedule providing you with the dewormings it has received.
Socialization. We began socializing our puppies from birth. We handle them ourselves as puppies to get them comfortable with human contact. Second of all, we began familiarizing them with getting their nails trimmed, taking baths, and being groomed. We try to expose the puppies as soon as possible to children, family, and friends once they have been vaccinated. We want our puppies to be well socialized so when they go to their new homes they will know a little bit about being a good citizen.
Food. When the mother begins to wean her puppies we start feeding them Cesar's Canine Cuisine and Eukanuba small breed puppy food. The Cesar's is a soft food and Eukanuba is a dry food. We will send a sample package of these with your new puppy. We recommend you continue feeding your puppy Cesar's and Eukanuba. It is hard on a puppy's tummy when you switch it's food. If you do prefer to feed your puppy a different type of food you would need to do this gradually over a period of ten days to help prevent upsetting the puppy's tummy. We feed the Cesar's two to three times a day and leave the Eukanuba dry food out at all times for the puppy. You will want to continue to feed the puppy some soft food until it reaches six months of age, but also feed it dry food as well. Once it is six months old you can continue with the dry food. It is much better for their teeth and gums as this helps to remove plaque.
Health Warranty. We provide a written Health Warranty on all of our puppies until the puppy reaches the age of one year. For more information on what our Health Warranty covers please read over our .
Registration Paper. All of our puppies will come with full registration unless otherwise stated. We have both American Kennel Club and American Canine Association registered Maltese. You will receive the puppy's registration paper with your puppy.
